My name is Vicky Loras and I am an English teacher. I was born in Toronto, Canada, thirty-one years ago. I stayed there until I was eight years old but the impact of the schooling I got there remains with me today and I try to apply it in my teaching as well.
Later on, we moved to Greece which is the homeland of my parents. I finished the rest of my education there. I am a graduate of the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Philosophy, at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. For ten years after graduation, my sisters and I owned an English School in Ioannina, Greece, The Loras English Academy. Now I have moved with my eldest sister to Switzerland where I continue working as an English teacher. I love working with all ages!
I believe in teaching as an ongoing learning process, both for the benefit of the students and the teacher. For that reason, I try to attend as many conferences, seminars and workshops as I can. In addition, I read a lot about recent developments in teaching. In my tenth year of teaching, it is my firm belief that in this profession there is always room for improvement and the most important thing educators can do for themselves initially, and for their students subsequently, is to participate in educational seminars and conferences and even attend any kind of specialized course, either at university or online from accredited institutions.
One of my primary educational interests is celebrating diversity and multiculturalism in the classroom.
